Based on my experience taking 3 sections of the cpa, I know I need to master some skills to answer mcq/simulations. I took REG and FAR before so coming from those two beast, AUD it's much easier. I feel very confident on my knowledge of AUD. However, I'm not sure i'll pass. So my conclusion is that knowing the subject matter won't help me pass the CPA. I need to have an strategy/skill to answer the mcq/simulations. So I wonder if anyone of you have discovered this art? or if there is a review program out there who teaches FAR and the skill/strategy to answer the mcq/simulations? thanks so much....

i know that becker has a bunch of mnemonics which are very helpful to remembering a lot of the key points for each section

Of course you are not going to remember these mnemonics for the rest of your life but if you are looking for a strategy to pass the test i believe these do a pretty good job

surfer and nic, thanks for the ideas. I agree with what you guys are saying. And, I think i got a problem :( for FAR I don't worry about my 71 since I knew I was ready, but wanted to take my chances. However, AUD I'm very very confidedent about my knowledge, but during the exam, I struggled to figure out what was the question being asked for some mcq and for most of the simulations. AUD felt like a word game. So, I want to be prepared to deal with word games during the test.

Sometimes I look at a question... and I get so confused and I try to think about all the rules that are shoved into my head and I cant seem to figure out the answer. But then I say to myself, "what makes sense!?!?!" That is when it clicks... why is that the way it is? Thats the thing about accounting in general, although not ALL, but most of the things make logical sense!

Also, today in BEC I had so much time and I marked a couple questions. I didnt know how to figure out the correct answer on a computational problem, but I was able to see where the answers were coming from. And by procress of elimination I think I chose the correct answer. Although I will never really know if it was correct, I think this was a good approach as well when you have time.

Finally, just be confident in your knowledge. You put so much time into preparing... so just realize this on test day and dont second guess yourself! The hardest part of this test is bringing yourself to study, not the actual test itself! :)
