I completed a BSc in Information Systems from a university in UK. Its 3 years of course work packed into 2 years. So completed the degree in 2 years. I got the degree evaluated by World Education Service and its equivalent to a US bachelors degree with 120 credits. Then I completed a MS in Accouting from a university in the USA, its a licensure-qualifying CPA Program, 42 credits.

Apparently the university in USA checked marked 150 credits in form 2 and the transcript shows 42 credits, so the NY board is asking the school to provide the additional credits to meet the 150 credits. I tried explaining that the 150 credits would be MS combined with my BSc. Then they're saying my Bsc is only 2 years and masters is considered 1 year so I'm lacking 2 years of education.

Do they go by the years or credits? How can a masters degree be considered only 1 year? I'll be meeting with the dean of my school to figure this out. If its just few classes I need I don't mind taking it. But 2 years of school is crazy. Is there a 3rd party that I can get my UK degree evaluated by that NY board accepts?

I want to look into other states that would accept my qualifications. Whats the downside to being certified by another state and wants to practise in a different state? I live in NY.

In that case there's no point in taking the exam. I don't know what to do. NY doesn't even accept 3rd party evaluations and I didn't feel the evaluator I spoke with had any idea about the education system in UK.

I guess my close bet is to get certified in NJ and move to NJ:)
