I still have some time left to finish off the CPA series. After passing all 4 that I plan to give my ethics exam. But I just wanted to get an idea what this is all about. These questions may have been asked before, but I ask them again...Is there study material for this as well? Do I go to prometric to give this or can I give this anywhere online? How does it work?

What state are you in?

In California, candidates order the exam from CalCPA's education foundation - it is basically a text book with a CD as a supplement.

Not entirely sure how this works in other states - let me know where you are and I'd be happy to dig up some more info for you.

We actually recommend that our students do the ethics exam while they are still taking the CPA exam (like during a blackout month), since it is open book it doesn't require studying like the other "sections," it's pretty easy to get through. That way you can get licensed quicker once you DO finish the exams!

Beware: the CA ethics exam score is only valid for 1 year. I would wait until you finish writing your last exam.

Thanks rogercpa and calvol! I'm sitting from the state of Iowa, and right now studying for BEC and then FAR. I plan on sitting for the ethics exam hopefully in September.

I just took the Ethics exam for Iowa.  You just order a cd or book from the aicpa website to get the Ethics credit.  I got the CD version.  You go through the slides and then take a quiz at the end (need 90%+) which is submitted online and then provides you with your certificate of completion.  It's a pretty easy and painless process - compared to the rest of the exam! :)  Good luck!
