I'm in California. I passed all the exams, and the ethics exam. I worked for a CPA for 2 years doing accounting, but she refused to sign my experience certification and is lying to the CA Board about what my work entailed. They determined I did not perform "general accounting functions" but I did AR, Revenue Recognition, and made reports for the CFO. I don't know what CA expects! (By the way, that is not even the requirement, but that's what my letter from the Board said was why I'm not getting a license.) Is there any way I can get licensed in another state to end this nightmare?

Kimberly: that sux, you should appeal the Board's decision. If you worked under a licensed CPA, how could they claim A/R and RR does not qualify as general experience? There is an appeal process outlined in the licensing manual. You may have to go to Sacramento. Check it out and appeal, I hate to hear a supervisor doing this to someone.

The following is considered as general accounting functions

"Preparation and issuance of financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles or other comprehensive bases of accounting as defined in the standards established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants."
