So let me preface by stating that I understand the real value in an internship relates to experience, getting your foot in the door (most CPA firms around here only hire from intern pool...) and it is NOT about the money. With that said, I want to know what kind of internship pay you have experienced at CPA firms. My goal is to make enough to cover child care for my 2 year old triplets. If I can do that, the experience will be enough to justify it. Can anyone tell me what they made along with what part of the country, whether it was tax season or summer, and whether you were held on. Any info in this arena would be greatly appreciated. - Kim

15-20 USD/hr... small firm (corporate). My friends at Big 4 made $25/hr during the summer (audit & tax) - NYC area.

I did a tax internship with regional firm in MI area and was paid $20/hr + overtime. During busy season, working 50 + hours, it was good money, but may be difficult to use traditional daycare centers while working that many hours.

I have heard the pay is similar to what the firm's full time employees get once you factor in overtime.

Thanks, we found a nanny for just that reason. It actually comes out the same as daycare when you have 3 children... Just have to be diligent about "nanny taxes" lest I risk losing my cpa license.
