I had 1st round interviews with all Big 4 firms and passed thru to the 2nd
round at three firms while the other is still making their decision on their
invitations. Does anyone have some advice on what to expect from the 6
hour office visit interviews?

Also, what percentage of 2nd round candidates receive offers? While I am
confident in my resume and personality, I am nervous that this economy
might make this stiff competition.

The 2nd round interviews usually are of the behavioral interview type. You will meet with associates from the staff level through partner, who will ask you questions that target specific situations that demonstrate your experience and suggest how you will handle similar situations in the future. They are trying to ascertain if you would be a good fit for the company and culture.

If you have made it to the 2nd round, you have already demonstrated the necessary qualifications and background required for the position. Demonstrated knowledge and experience is what will differentiate you from others competing for the same position. Approach the interview as having a conversation with the people you are scheduled to meet. Some things to think about to prepare for the interview:

  1. Analyze your own background. What skills do you have that relate to the position?
  2. Consider competencies that are common from company to company: leadership, teaming, creativity, working under tight time constraints, client service, management effectiveness, and decision making.
  3. Identify examples from your past experience where you demonstrated those skills. How can you tell a story about your use of particular skills or knowledge? Concentrate on developing complete answers using the STAR Method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

I have graduated 3 years ago and decided to pursue public accounting career last year. Since that time I have accumulated enough credits to become CPA eligible and passed all sections of the CPA exam last month. After a lot of networking and succesfull two first round interviews, I am invited for an in house interview in November with PwC and EY. I would really appreciate if any one could shade light to what to expect and any traps to avoid. I heard that there will be 3 different interviews. What are the difference between these interviews and their focus and who conducts each interview?

Thanks
