Please help.  After sending in my Application of Intent, I received back notice that I need to take the ethics class.  I had been under the assumption from a prior email from the Texas State Board that I could take the ethics class while taking the CPA exam since I had graduated in 2002.

After speaking with them today, that rule has since changed.  It had been in 2008 when I was told by them that I could still test without the ethics class so apparently sometime since then the rule has changed and that is no longer the case.

My question to anyone who can help is....how do I meet this ethics requirement?  I had found a website which I thought meant I could do this and be satisfied with it  ( http://www.accountantsed.com/orstore/showitem.aspx?txtsearch =ethics&productID=OLETX4).

However, after speaking with someone at the Texas State Board, it was emphasized that I need to take something from a recognized college.  Can anyone please help?  I am desperate and want to get this done as soon as possible.  Am I essentially stuck waiting until the Spring semester somewhere to take this?  Any and all suggestions or advice are welcome.

Hi wannabetxcpa:

The link you have is for someone already passed the CPA exam and she need to pass that ethic exam in order to fulfill the requirement to get her license.

In your case, I think you need to get the ethic class before you can qualify to take the CPA exam; I have the link for you to check out. It’s in TSBPA under Educators-Ethics Course Requirement-Link to Ethics- Ethics Course.

It lists the school that provide the ethics class which TSBPA accept the credit.  Good luck!

Thanks VN_CPA.

I finally got some clarity after reading some other posts on the board and am close to completion of the course.  I signed up for the online version through UT-Dallas.  It definitely wasn't cheap, but it's an accelerated version so I'll be done with the class by Dec 10 and ready for BEC in January.  Thanks again!

so i am registered in GA and got my credits for all parts last week..now i live in TX and am wondering what is the best route for me:

1) i can transfer my credits to TX and get my license here

2) i get my license in GA and then get it transferred to TX

the 1st option is better as TX asks for credit evaluation irrespective of license or score transfer.

My question is which route will be less paper work (NONE)..also am clueless as to the work and education requirement equalities between the 2 states.(SAME) Which is the best source for these kind of questions?(TSBPA) is there any email or phone number where they wont get tired of my licensure questions?(TSBPA - 512-305-7818)

Also, how long should i wait before i get the congratulatory package from GA? i am hoping that package will shed some more light on my situation..Still waiting..doesnt help much..just a letter stating the scores

can i hold CPA license in more than one state..is there some upper limit to number of states i can hold license in? No I cannot. I can practice temporarily but need the resident state's permission.
