WAVE 1 & 2 - RELEASE ESTIMATE - BACKGROUND INFO

The anticipated score release dates for some exams taken in the first month of the testing window will be during the seventh week of the window. The remaining exams from the first month and all from the second month will be released two to three weeks after the end of the window. The Illinois Board of Examiners will release scores continuously once the AICPA and NASBA release them. The Board does not control the timing of the release of scores to our office from the AICPA and NASBA. Candidates are now able to view their unofficial advisory scores on-line on the IBOE web site after establishing a login ID and password.”

WAVE 1 & 2 Oct/Nov 2009 Window Score Release:
Using the above for approximate score release dates, the 7th full week of testing would fall on the week of November 16th.  You will want to keep an eye out for tweets from @NASBA and @cpaexamtweets, as NASBA should tweet around then that a certain number of Wave#1 Scores have been released to them from the AICPA.  It then takes NASBA 24-48 business hours to get the scores posted to their CPAES system.  During this "NASBA State Wait", a few states (like CA, VA, IL...) will release.

When NASBA releases, several states will be released all at once.  Several other states will be releasing during this time as well, most via their own BOA site or via e-mail.  The "snail mail states" may take a little longer.

The order appears to go BEC, REG, AUD & FAR.  If you give the AICPA a day between each section, that will push the AICPA FAR WAVE #1 release into the week starting 11/23.

WAVE 1 Oct/Nov 2009 Window
Score Release Start - Week of November 16th
Score Release Finish - Week of November 23rd

WAVE 2 Oct/Nov 2009 Window (*)

2 Weeks after end of Window:
Score Release Start - Week of December 14th
Score Release Finish - Week of December 21st

or it could be 3 Weeks after end of Window:
Score Release Start - Week of December 21st
Score Release Finish - Week of December 28th

(*) Given the time of year, will check into past history to determine which scenario is more likely, 2 or 3 weks after end of window.

QUESTION
Which wave am I in?

ANSWER
If you took the exam before the 7th of the 2nd month in the window, you should be in Wave 1.  However, there are exceptions.  For instance, if you receive a simulation that is new to the exam, you are automatically placed in Wave 2.

QUESTION
Is my state a "NASBA State"?

ANSWER
You can find out if your state is a NASBA state here: http://www.cpazone.com/2009/08/nasba-states.html
