I am considering to take the exam in 2010.  I have a full time job. Thinking to finish the exam as quick as possible, planning to take Becker live classes. Is it better to buy 2009 material and start reading from now? Will it help?

My suggestion is to wait until you are ready to prepare to actually sit with 8-12 weeks purchase of the material before you sit.

The reason I suggest this is because material changes often, and you don't want to be reading now in 2009 what will have changed in 2010 and then be using outdated material.

Also, reading and performing are two very different parts.  You can read the material, but you will really gain the knowledge through working through hours and hours of questions.  That said, reading should go hand in had with doing assignments so you are refreshed and ready on exam day.

One last thing, I used Becker and had difficulty with material the way they presented it and switched to Yaeger, and have improved significantly.

I'm taking Yaeger CPA review course. Does anyone know if just studying the Wiley book they teach is enough. I am studying for FAR and planning to take the exam in Jan/Feb. 2010.

I am doing very well with what they teach and sit on 11/24 for FAR. You need to do all the MCQ and sims they assign to. I do the 14.0 cd also to supplement after each module.

Cindy is great in the later modules.

The instructor who does inventory and investments is not good, but they clear it up on their homepage, watch the updates for those modules on their website.

Be sure to make notecards, it will save you!
