I, like everyone else here, have been preparing for the
CPA, and am finishing up final preparations for AUD. I
have been looking on here for awhile, but haven't
actually posted yet, so first off, thanks for all the
help the forum is.
I was working simulations for Becker today, and came
across an idea. I had been memorizing things that are
included in audit reports and what not, preparing for the
written response.
Is it possible to use the research tab to help answer the
written response? I tried it in Becker, to find out it
says 'wrong path' or something of the sort when you get
away from what it is asking in the research tab. Is that
what happens on the actual exam, or does it have the full
authoritative literature on it? Thanks for any help!

It is possible to do so during the actual exam provided you're working on a simulation. It can also be very time consuming. I tried doing this on my first attempt at AUD and I just wasn't able to find what I was looking for. The time I wasted could have been better spent working on other tabs. I would at least have the mnemonics memorized (provided you're using Becker). Having failed AUD once I'm memorizing the standard AUD report, compilation report and the review report. It really doesn't take that long and is rather effortless. Don't leave anything to chance, do what you can now to increase your understanding of the material.

Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. I have the basic reports memorized
already. My concern was more along the lines of
everything that should be included in a Management Rep
Letter (one of the Becker Sims). While I can definitely
list some of them, I could not come out with near as
comprehensive list as they have in their answer. I
actually know the AU# for things like that, due to my
classes, so was hoping to just be able to look up
something like that. I was not planning to use it for
audit reports. That is great to hear that you have the
full authoritative literature. Thanks for the help! Good
luck with yours!

Hmm - I just posted a question along similar lines in the thread "Memorizing Reports". Here's the link:

Would you mind sharing the AU#'s for the rest of us? I'm sure it would be helpful for a lot of people.
