Hullo Guys and Gals!

This is a Very wonderful message board with a lots of
information!

But today I have for you a problem I wish you can help me
with. It is job related. Right now I work in an
Accounting company but not as an accountant. My position
is more like Office Assistant or something. do
Miscellaneous paper work and other busy work. Anyways, I
hope to change to Full-Time Audit/Tax staff but i need
your opinion how.

I have a BS in business and have taken these classes:
basic accounting 1, 2, intermediate 1,2,3, cost
accounting, and I am taking individual taxation right
now. Eventually of course I want to take CPA.

The dilemma is I really do not enjoy my work right now. I
want to hurry to finish my classes so I can become either
Audit or Tax. I can only take one class at night right
now, and I still have a few classes I want to take. I
don't know whether I should quit my job and just take
class full-time until I finish?

what is your opinion, guys! speak freely!

I think what clips2007 means, is no... :)

The hiring trends for public accounting have decreased for the first time since SOX passed leaving many new grads unemployed.  If you have a job at a firm you would like to work at, keep it.

Maybe you could squeeze one more class in each semester?  Maybe by the time you finish, the job market will have turned around.  Maybe the firm will allow you to work on tax or audit during the busy season and save them from hiring an intern.

Just my 2 cents.  I certainly know about wanting to get through school fast.  But with predicted double digit unemployment, keep what you have.  In my state were already over 15%.

IMHO, don't quit your job.  The full time position I have now started off as an internship doing the types of tasks you described.

I would not recommend leaving your job unless you have the financial resources to be unemployed for 2 years.  If you don't, then I would just continue taking the night class.
