Hi everyone, this is my first post and have used this site as a valuable resource.

A little about my CPA status:
As of 10/22/09 I have successfully passed all 4 CPA exams in the State of California, and am actively working on my ethics exam.
I intend to apply using Pathway 2, and still need a "licensee supervisor".
I have about 9 years of accounting experience.

OK, so here's the info that might help answer some questions you may have if you are in the same phase of licensure as me.

These were my questions to the California State Board of Accountancy and answers via telephone call from them:

1.       How long are the passed CPA exams valid for?

The Rest of your life.

2.       How long is the passed ethics exam valid for?

You must have passed the ethics exam within 2 years of your application for licensure.

3.       Can the CPA sponsor for licensure be a CPA from a different state?

Yes, but they must be active the entire period of your supervision.

4.       Does the sponsor CPA (aka Licensee Supervisor) have to be active for a certain amount of time (i.e. one year) before sponsoring a new candidate for licensure?

No, but they have to be active from beginning to end of your period of accounting experience.

5.       Is there a limit to how many candidates a CPA can sponsor, or at a time?

No, there is no regulation on this. It is up to the Licensee Supervisor.

Thanks for the info! I'm planning on moving to FL but was worried that the supervisor wouldn't be able to sign off on my experience so I've been focusing on getting work here in CA first.
