I currently attend school at night to fulfill the remaining 30 credits to qualify for the CPA exam. Right now, I have a job that's making me miserable the more I stay there and I'm looking for ways to get out. I know not everyone likes their jobs but the position I'm in is just getting ridiculous week by week...
I've had an experience to work part-time for a local firm for almost two years while I attended college full-time. It wasn't like an internship but it was a great experience because they got me involved with many other things: bookkeeping, filing, meeting a client with a partner of the firm, marketing, collating taxes during tax season, etc. The firm did inspire me to pursue accounting when I left after finishing college.
So in my position, should I go ahead and start looking for internships first since I never really had an actual accounting experience? I've been an accounting clerk before working at the firm but that's it. I definitely want to go public accounting mainly in auditing. I received a degree in Economics 2 years ago but I ended up in a career that's no longer satisfying. Hopefully I'll finish all of the requirements by next fall at my current pace.
Any advice?
