Things just gotten more awful. Lost my Big X CPA job in March, I manage to pass AUD and BEC, but REG is just killing me with two 73s in a row. Family, being chinese and all, is convinced if I had all 4 parts of CPA I would gotten back with a great job...

But to be honest, I really don't see having a full CPA helps. Being a first year layoff, it is like I am blacklisted by all the firms. =( Firms in 07 who would send me offers now decline to interview me. Industry all require a CPA for $15 hour jobs. I find I really have no life or friends anymore.

Nothing is working with REG, no matter how hard I tried, it seem to me I have two textbooks (Whiley and BECKER) CD done twice, marked with black ink and completed. Most questions are not even new anymore.

And yet, I still don't know enough.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and living in the past. This is 2009 not 2007. You don't have control over what happened in the past. All the Big4 overhired in 2007 and there were many people who were laid off across the board. Unfortunately you experienced the same fate with thousands of other people in the same situation. Asian families tend to be direct in how they talk to their family. They probably associate taking the CPA exams in the same way that one would take some exam in school.

Maybe you should take a different approach to studying. For example, try learning the material as if you will be teaching it to other people. Look at questions posed by people in the forums and try answering their questions.

Maybe try another review course? Something new that change the way you look at REG concepts.

Try the Gleim questions. You can buy the questions for one section for less than $50. It is worth it. You get additional questions that you did not see. Some questions are similar, but it really helped me. I used Becker and complemented that with Gleim questions. Don't give up.
