Hi,
So basically, I was wondering how tough it is to get into good master of accounting programs (think USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, WUSTL, UNC, etc.) if you have a relatively low GPA but an absolute baller GMAT and good work experience/internships? The reason being, even though its early, I'm not too optimistic about how great my GPA will be during my undergrad year. It seems like I always end up blowing a midterm or quiz and getting a 3.4-3.5 instead of the 3.7+ that's needed to get into the top MAcc programs. So I was wondering if its still possible to get into good programs with around a 3.4, but a 720+ on the GMAT? I know you're going to say that there's no guarantee I'll score that high, but I am confident that if I start studying now (as a sophomore...slightly, not like crazy) and work hard at it, I should do fine, especially since GMAT questions seem pretty easy from what I've seen.

That's not true. Most Maccs even the top ones are not that selective. From USC website their class had 3.45 GPA and 650 Gmat.

some allow you to waive the gmat if you pass the cpa, only for macc though.

Do you think though that with the sudden interest in accounting that MAcc admissions are going to become drastically more difficult than they are at present, or do you think they will be relatively consistent?

the prestige of a MACC program is highly overrated unless you plan on going the whole academia route imo... and even then...
Just remember it's not like MBA, a person who goes into the work force with a masters from a smaller school will make the same as one as a student from a "prestigious" macc program.
