I recently interviewed for a position at a Big 4 firm. It was for an off-
cycle entry level hire, so they were only interviewing 2 people for the
position. After my interview, I was told that they would be meeting with
the other candidate in a week and should have a decision in two weeks.
Two weeks came and went, so I emailed to see what was up with the
position. They emailed me back and assured me I was still under strong
consideration for the position; however, they were working on getting the
proper intracompany approval for the position.
Anyone at a Big 4 familiar with this internal process? Should I be
optimistic that they didn't reject me yet? They obviously have had the
time to consider the candidates, so if I was going to be rejected, wouldn't
they have told me?
My optimistic side wants to believe that the only thing stopping me from
being hired is an internal snafu that disallows a new hire. Any insight
would be nice to hear to ease my anxieties. Thanks!

No news is good news. Off cycle hiring is a one-off; timing varies. Followup
with the recruiter in a few days via phone and find out the status - but don't
stalk. Hang in there!
