I used to get lots of sleep (if I could...nervousness usually interfered!), ate about three hours before the exam (a bagel or two, minimal amounts of coffee), then listened to my
favorite songs and read the local newspaper/WSJ until exam time. I never studied the day of or the day before my exams. I'm a strong believer that a rested mind is better
than a fatigued/saturated one (which comes with cramming). However, to each their own, as I have seen people be successful with either method.
