I am interviewing at a Big 4 that under hired for 2010 last fall. Because they
are playing catch up, it is for a position that will start very soon. Does
anyone have any input on the competition for such a last minute entry-level
position? To my knowledge, it was an unlisted position. I found out about
the opening on a real whim, so I am hoping that the competition will not be
too extensive.

I feel I just missed out going through the conventional interview process last
fall. So I think if the competition isn't as stiff as it was last year, I might have
a shot this time around. But then again, it might be tougher this time
around because it is for only one opening. Any insider information would be
nice to know. Thanks!

Depends on which location your at? But in general, interviewing off season which meaning, there's no superday or what not does not mean you have no competition. Its just more spaced out. The day you interview, even though there may be nobody else there, they prob interviewed other days. Also, even during the conventional process, where there's a lot of people. I know, EY at ny been trying to play catchup. My friend just got hired couple weeks ago, but as experience hire.

Well, I am not expecting no competition, but am hoping for only a few other
candidates. I felt I was on the bubble during the fall, so if the competition is
less, I would hope I would make the cut this time.

I am waiting to hear back from my 1st interview at EY.  The person who interviewed me is looking to fill 4 to 6 positions  and he interviewed 8 people (including myself).  He told me that I am on the top half of his list so I hope that I will make the cut.  My interview was last Thursday so I am hoping to hear back from them soon.

Don't worry.  When I interviewed they told me two weeks as they were doing three superdays for three consecutive Fridays.  Interviews ended at 12, then you had a lunch.  They told me they would call as soon as they had it figured out, I got my call at 1pm on the third Friday.
