I'm considering taking the CPa and I talked to a guy at my company, who is a CPA, about it.

He got his CPA in Illinois.

I asked him about his audit experience, he said he didnt have enough experience at the time, but he signed his supervisors name to the experience verification document and sent it in.

Could someone really get away with that? Don't they check?

He might be telling stories, he's that kind of guy.

Regardless of whether you could get away with it, don't do it.  If you don't understand why, go read the AICPA Code of Conduct.  How much will you gain from not waiting for the experience (not much, maybe getting a raise a year early) and at what risk (probably never working in public accounting again)?  I could be wrong, but it's not like you'll be immediately needing the actual powers the license gives you (signing audited financials).

And, that's a pretty serious thing for him to be admitting to.  I'm not sure if he's your friend or anything, but if I had no reason to cover for him, I'd report him to the Illinois state board immediately.  Not that I'm holier-than-thou or anything, but my moral obligation would force me to, end of story.

You can read through some of these forums and see how many people are working their ass off to do this the right way.  I may be alone, but it really pisses me off to hear of someone like that guy.  It makes me feel like my license is devalued in some way.  Sorry, end rant.
