Hi All,

I am so glad that I have joined this forum. Looking forward for your valuable insights for getting CPA lisenced. I am an international applicatant and just got my evaluation done by FACS.

As per the evaluation, I have the following

Degree equal to US baccalaureate.

150 semester credits

24 Accounting credits

Some points to consider in the selection.

1) not a us citizen/resident

2) dont have public accounting experiance (exp for 2+ years as financial analyst in canada)

Please help me choose the best state.

Thanks,

Ragavi

hi ragavi, u can definitely apply from NJ,  u may apply from delaware.

here is the link for nj

http://www.njscpa.org/students/exam/edreq.cfm

some states have residence requirement, better if you check individual state requirements.

Delaware.  I have same case as you and that's why I'm Delaware.

(At the time I started, DE was easier for eligibility than NJ based on my individual circumstances.)

Hi All,

I am in USA and trying to navigate ways to understand the process. To give background, I am a B.Com (Accounting Hons) from India and also completed the Federal Taxation course with 3hrs credit. I have submitted my transcript to FACS for evaluation and expect to be done in next 1-2 weeks. I understand that I will be eligible for Delaware state. Since some of you are registered with Delaware please share your experience on next steps.

1- When should I submit my application (to NASBA) for state registration?

2- Should I pay the registration fees and exam fees at the time I submit my application for registration?

3- If I am prepared to take 2 exams now and plan to take the other 2 six months later then should I have to pay the application fees again?

4- Since, NTS is valid for six months, do I have option to say what six month I want or how the six month window is determined?

I will appreciate answer to my questions. If you know somewhere in this forum this has been answered then please direct me there.

Thanks in advance.

shaileshm75- If I were in the situation you describe, I would submit your application as soon as you hear back from FACS with a confirmation that your credits are acceptable.  If you hear back that you still need hours, you can go take care of that.  Or if you hear back that you're all set, then you would submit your application immediately to NASBA.  You would only pay for the exams you are ready to sit for immediately, and the time period starts running as soon as an NTS is issued.  Yes this means you will have to pay another fee when you apply for the other two sections, but the fee is probably worth it if you really feel you need that much time to prepare.
