Some people are saying that the grades were curved up (more than usual) this testing window because there were more people taking BEC and FAR.  I kind of think they were because I felt I did a lot worse than my 73. This worried me because I have one last attempt in February and i don't think I can make a 73 again, especially if the grades were curved up.

What do you all think?

Imo, it felt like there was a (slight) upward curving. Yet, it's a very subjective thing, just my 'feeling'. Maybe it's based on the fact that I felt good the previous time when I took FAR for the 1st time, but got a 74 score (was 'stronger' on MCQs, 'comparable' - on WC parts)... I ran out of time on the 2nd sim - left it blank!

This time around, I didn't have that feeling that I did very good on FAR, maybe because I also ran out of time on my 2nd sim - left it blank too. Thus, my expectations weren't that high already (based on my previous FAR experience and a 74-score). Maybe I was more prepared and MCQs felt quite easy (?), maybe I've got a 'stronger' grade on my WC part, who knows... Maybe it was the whole 'curving' thing. You never know how they actually grade these tests. On a positive side, I know that I've got the 1st sim almost right (90-95%).

So, if I assume that MCQs were 85% right (my gut feeling), WC - were 'stronger', 1st sims - almost right, 2nd sim = 0 points, then:

85*0.7 + 9p (WC) + 8p (1st sim) + 0p (2nd sim) = 76p (plus a slight curve of 3 p.p.) ---> = my final score

If I'd assume that only 80% of MCQs were right, then it changes to:

80*0.7 + 9p (WC) + 8p (1st sim) + 0p (2nd sim) = 73p (thus a bigger curve would be required to get to my final score)

I swear that REG scoring process is also totally impredictible: the second time I've reviewed that course for some additional 10 days, and my 2nd score jumped to an 87 (from a 73). Yet, my level of "so called knowledge" remained basically the same: when I've got that first failing REG score I was 'stronger' in MCQs (88-92% versus 76-78% for the passing candidate), 'comparable' in WC and 'weaker' in Sims (finished only the 1st sim, and some tabs were not even 80% correct, imo). I felt like I should have passed REG the first time around, though.

I think the most important thing for both FAR and REG is 'Time mgmt'. It's not about what you actually know or don't know, it's about your ability to input your answers in a pretty fast manner. Punch those numbers, aka select your choice in the MCQ part, as fast as possible.

I am so confused on scoring.  Thought I totally bombed FAR and got and 84.  Felt great about Reg than just found out I failed.  Looked at my score report for Reg and scored in the 80's in all sections. Was "stronger" in almost every MC category.  Did "weaker" on WC but "stronger" on the simulations.  Guess it still wasn't enough.

I don't think it would really be true because there would still be the same pass/fail rate and the same amount of people would be able to pass, if you know what I mean.  I felt like I NAILED AUD and I got a 71...but AUD seems a bit hard to gauge.  Accountingnerd, I know you took AUD twice, what did you do the 2nd time that helped you pass?

The first time I took AUD I got a 71. I
feel like I really knew the material, but
I rushed thought the exam. I got a
little cocky thinking it was really easy
and I knew all the questions. I really
thought I was going to get a 90..hah! I
finished in about 3 hours. To prepare
for my re-take I spent 6 weeks doing
the MCQs in the wiley book over and
over...and when I took the exam for
the 2nd time I used up every minute
and realized the questions weren't as
simple as I thought...some were pretty
tricky! I was pretty bummed because
my sims were FAR stuff and I had no
clue how to do them, but I made some
good guesses and ended up with an
80!
