I am planning on studying for my CPA starting 2011...I am looking to attend a Live class since I am not very good at the online/self studying routine. I do have a Finance/Accounting background but it's been a while since I went back to books...so I am looking for classes that actually teach you the principles/logic and also gives me an opportunity to ask questions if I don't understand what is being taught...any feedback on Becker/Roger live classes is appreciated!

Thanks!

I've heard that Becker classes are hit or miss. If you're lucky, you'll
get a good instructor (local college prof?) that runs the lecture and
can answer questions. If not, then you could end up with an
instructor that plays the videos and reads from a script.

Roger CPA Review classes are taught by the same person, Roger
Phillip.

Hi Arch_118,

It is my understanding that Becker does not teach, as they have someone slip in a video that instructs users to underline key points in their books and uses powerpoint slides. I've heard that their books and software are the key points to their course.

Roger teaches using a white-board. However, I would not recommend his live classes because he tends to talk fast and you may miss something. Also, several of his live classes are really live webcasts from another location and have had technical problems.

Therefore, I would highly recommend the online course (which is the same live class) as you can watch as many times as you like, pause, rewind, fastforward, etc., and are automatically updated for 9 months. If you need an additional 9 months, there is a $50 admin. charge for each part. You still get his book and Wiley's book and software.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot folks...I just found out that you can attend an hour of Roger's class for free to test it out...might just do that to see how comfortable I am with his fast talking!
