Has anyone tried CPAExcel's demo and was disappointed that they omit advanced features, such as Simulations, Exam Tutor, Diagnostics, etc.? It seems to me that they should give you full access to all of the features during your trial. What do you think?

Do you find that their questions are not as difficult as Wiley, Gleim, or Becker? My co-workers and I were considering their program but did not like the fact that their demo is so restricted. What are they afraid of? How does their software compare to Becker, Wiley, Gleim, or ExamMatrix?

Thanks.

Dear CPA_Hopeful,

We are glad to see that you are doing your homework before choosing a review course. We have passed along the recommendation that these features be included in our demo. In the meantime, please feel free to sign up and sit in on one of our Weekly Live Tours where you can see the FULL course in action, ask questions, etc. Here is the link: http://bit.ly/hCI6fR

As for the difficulty of the questions, we can tell you that all of our content (except for the actual past exam questions) is written by top professors from around the country, and both our materials and our students have an outstanding record of success.

We hope that you take us up on this offer to view a live tour. We are sure that you will be happy if you choose CPAexcel.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention,
Your Friends at CPAexcel

Thank you, CPAexcel, I may attend your live tour.

Until you change your Demo, you may want to post a recorded video tour of how best to use your software, demonstrating Diagnostic Exam, Exam Tutor, Simulations, and your Final Exam Simulations.

Also, does your software automatically adapt like ExamMatrix or Lambers?

For example, does your software automatically choose additional questions (that you have not seen before) in your weak areas, after taking the Diagnostic Exams?  How does your Diagnostic Exams work?

Thank you.

CPA_Hopeful,

Funny you should mention that. We had a recorded video tour on our website for 4 years prior to December 17, when it was temporarily removed while we updated it for 2011.

In answer to your question, our courses adapt on many levels, probably more so than what you are asking here, but let us try to be brief and give you a detailed answer. (Is that possible?)

For starters, when you complete a diagnostic exam in CPAexcel, color coded metrics are then applied to the table of contents, giving you a visual idea of which lessons you understand and which you should spend more time on.  As you progress through the course, these progress icons will continue to give you visual cues.

CPAexcel courses also contain a "configure" function that allows you to remove questions that you have previously answered correctly at any other time (e.g. in a diagnostic, a previous quiz, the exam tutor). This allows you to drill specifically on questions that you have not seen yet or not answered correctly. This feature saves time and allows students to drill down and focus on areas/questions specific to their needs.  You may also wish to turn on the "SmartSort" feature which will deliver more difficult questions first (difficulty is based on how often the thousands of past CPAexcel users performed on a question).

Perhaps the best example of how our course uses metrics to adapt is our "Exam Planner". Our Exam Planner allows students to enter the dates that they would like to start studying and the dates that they would like to sit for the exam. It then uses the data of thousands of past CPAexcel students to construct a HIGHLY accurate schedule showing how many study hours will be required to meet that goal and be prepared.  Don't know when you want to sit for the exam?  Just build a plan using how many hours a week you can commit to
studying.

We strongly believe that providing metrics is an important part of a review course, but that it is also WHAT the course then does with those metrics that can make it extra useful and great!

Great questions, we hope that this helps you to understand a few of the ways that our product "adapts" to each specific user. (We could go on...)

Sincerely,
Your Friends at CPAexcel

So it doesn't do it automatically such as those for Exammatrix?
