What are your tips for this???

My body refuses to wake up at 5 to study for the CPA Exam before work. Any tips from fellow exam takers?

Here are a few received so far...keep them coming!  ;-)

Tip #1 Stop procrastinating and get up! Set your coffee pot to 10 minutes before!

Tip #2 Go to bed earlier.  Also, if it is a serious struggle. Perhaps waking up at 5:45 for a week then 5:30 the next until you get it to 5am. It will take a month but you can study after work until you get to 5am.

Tip #3 JUST DO IT! I do the same thing and study before work. Try actually getting to the office and studying there at your desk instead of staying at home and studying. It gives me more motivation than just being at home because once I'm at work there is nothing better to do. Good luck!!!

Tip #4 I study big chunks on weekends, do easier sections or reread during weeknights ...do I have a life go figure:-) good luck.

Here are some more tips...

I was always an evening studier. Study when you are alert. If that is not morning time, then find a better time, but DO study. - Melissa

You can also set target hours per week. Some days you feel like studying more and some days are good for slacking off. A good strategy as long as balance is maintained. Guilt feeling from slacking leads to more study. Long study hours takes you back to slacking. A nice chain reaction :) - Faisal

I never exercised when I studied lol.

Woke up at normal time (around 7AM - learning how to get ready for work in 15 minutes is CRUCIAL, fortunately I learned it back in college). Mind was on work (full time financial manager) and I'm too tired to be up studying and retain anything at that point anyway.

Got home around 6 or 7. Made dinner, watched an hour of youtube or some show... studied till 10 or 11. 11-12 Internet browsing usually.

Bed.

That was it. Friday-Sunday I usually did nothing. Just Monday-Thurs, ENJOYING studying (get pumped about it. Gearity and O'Linto were hilarious and fun to listen to), and being ready to engage myself in it.

Get into a routine. I don't think I ONCE said, "Ugh I have to study tonight." It was just what I did. That was just my routine. Monday-Thurs I studied... Friday-Sunday I didn't lol.

There's also USEFUL studying, and USELESS studying. Example:

Person A studies 15 hours a week and enjoys the studying, is interested to learn, gets pumped about it, talks about it at work and that the topics are engaging or apply to areas of their job.

Person B studies 30 hours a week. Hates studying, complains about having to do it to friends/family/coworkers, is tired constantly, never takes their mind off it to relax.

Guarantee you person A will probably have the same success and consider it a fun and enjoyable experience. Person A by the way is me. I did not hate taking the CPA exam. It was in a sense fun, and when I did finish I was kind of saddened. It was a great part of my life. And no, I'm not trying to sound all 'cool' or 'super smart'. That's the truth.

Have some fun with it folks. What else are you going to do? Watch TV? Play video games? Go shopping? Go get drunk with your friends? Workout? Well studying is a workout, for your brain. Working out your brain is more important than your body, because I personally know folks with alzheimers (and some whom have died because of it) and let me tell ya, I'd rather be a bit flabby compared to that.
