I just wanted to introduce myself to the team!

I will be sitting for FAR May 15th or 30th depending how my studing is going. I failed Auditing last year pretty bad and was so close to quiting. Wait i did quit :)

However, It seems like the CPA Exam is hunting my life. I am back at it this time with ten times the focus of the prior attempt.  I am a Corporate Tax Accountant so i work about 10 hours a day. I am studying from 6-8:30 on weekday and basically as many hours i can muster on the weekend.

I think this is a great site. I normally like to just read other people messages. I think that by me sharing hopefully i can encourage somebody else to PASS the exam.

I failed Auditing last year. I will be retaking it sometime in August of this year.

I am only using the Wiley Material. I already wasted close to 2000 dollars on beckers. I think its unmotivating and boring. I rather team myself the material .

I will comment on people messages and share my progress. Hopefully i will find a support group on here :) I love to party and drink like everyone else but i have stopped to focus on the CPA EXAM.

@ hottstuff

6 weeks of study sounds about right for FAR.  It's a BEAST!!!

Couple of helpful hints

-Review all throughout the study process.  There's so much info, if you don't keep reviewing, by the time you cover all the material you will forget what you learned.

-Pay attention to journal entries, all types of JE's.  I failed the 1st time because of the simulations.  As you know the sim's are now worth 40% so you must master them to pass.

Best Wishes To You!!

Welcome! The Wiley books are great.  They are the only way to go, in my opinion.  This forum has really helped me a lot.  Don't be afraid to ask anything! Everyone is really helpful.

Good luck! :)

I really like the Wiley books so far too.  I used them for BEC and AUD, and I feel like I did well in those.  I also love flash cards and making my own notes in Word.  That seems to really help.  Good luck!

(Hey, I finally figured why my messages are usually so condensed: Google Chrome!  Did I just graduate from cpanet forum noob status?)

Hi there, it sounds like we are in a very similar boat. I am planning on taking FAR Apr 24, only a month away. Eeeeee!  Like you I work 9-10+ hours a day, and I really hope that I can find enough time to study. Sounds like you've got a good schedule set up, I need to do something like that too. Block off a certain time every day.

I took BEC the end of January, and felt very bad coming out of the exam. Still impatiently waiting for my score.
