I have a BA in Economics and I want to take accounting
courses to sit for the CPA exam ASAP. I need to take 6
upper division (semester credits) Accounting courses to sit
for the CPA exam. I have been looking online and I don't
want to have to take prerequisites. My local community
college doesn't offer such classes. Anyone know a school
that offers online accounting classes that don't require
any prerequisites that cost less than $900 a class?

Check with your local universities.  They have some online courses.  Mine were on semester basis but I needed to take one very quickly so I went through the University of Phoenix which was great. They were six weeks in length and take it at your convenience at any start date instead of the normal school schedule.

I know Liberty University offers both undergraduate and graduate courses online (you can do a BS or MS in Accounting through them). The undergraduate tuition rate is a little less than $300 a credit, so you should stay under $900 per course. I'm not sure about the prereqs, though.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the prereqs are actually kinda important.

Don't you have basic accounting classes from you BA? Most times the prereqs are Principles I & II, which most business degrees require. Higher prereqs are usually accepted as the higher level stuff you need to sit for the cpa.

At any rate- don't kid yourself, econ is not the same as acct, so don't think a couple of classes will turn you into cpa ready. People actually study for months to take the cpa. And those people had been acct majors for years.

Don't waste your money on the exam until you are ready!
