Hi All,

I’ve successfully passed all exams. I don’t need a license to practice, but I would like to get a CPA certificate.

I’m an international candidate living outside of US and I’m struggling to understand what my next steps are in order to get certified only.

I understood that the state where I registered and sat for CPA exam is one-tier state, i.e. certification and licensure simultaneously.

Could you please advise if there is a possibility for me to transfer my scores for two-tier state? Can you recommend me any one of two-tier states?

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for your advice. I've spoken with the Illiois Board. They can issue the certificate, however, they will re-evaluate my education and it could be the case that I'm  not eligible to sit for CPA in Illiois: "the applicant would be entitled to an Illinois certificate if the examination had been taken under the Illinois statute and rules."

They unofficially evaluated my education and concluded that I hadn't met the education requirements (150 hrs) at the moment I sat for exams, i.e. my exams credits are not valid accordingly.

Totally frustrated :(

I was wondering why CPA license is different from CPA certificate.

I never heard of such a thing. I didn't know there was a difference. Why would a person not want both (certificate & license)? What is the point of one without the other?

I would imagine that since the exam is available internationally. There must also be a way to license candidates internationally as well.
