Hi can anyone please help me with this question if you are a Canadian and have your CPA through Colorado?

1. The application states that if the verifier of experience is a CA then we need to obtain their letter of good standing proving that they are in fact CAs.

I am not employed by a firm I would need two different partners signatures from two different firms. Why would partners at my previous firms go through the hassle of getting letters of good standing for me when I'm not even their employee anymore?

Did anyone else have this problem and know a solution?

Whats wrong with becoming a Certified General Accountant (CGA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) in Canada? The only difference I spot is that you spelled the word "check" as "cheque." Isn't the Canadian CGA equivalent to the American CPA?

BTW, congrats on Winnipeg getting a team.

@cpastudent2010

In my case I have passed the US CPA exam in California and took the CARE exam in Canada.  You can use the same certificate of experience with BOTH countries. NOT have to work at 2 seperate firms.

In my case I called the California state board of accountancy and the ICABC in Vancouver, Canada to hammer out the details.  In my case I just needed to complete the one certificate of attest experience in California then submit the same completed form to the ICABC and take the CARE exam at a later date.

No.  In Canada there are 3 designations.  CGA, CMA and CA.

The CA most closely resembles the USA CPA exam, but you also have to take an additional exam.  It fairly easy and deals with the difference in tax and and ethics.  I think it is a 4 hour exam if I remeber right.

Hope this helps
