Hi everyone! I am concern about the double dip recession approaching in the horizon. I am scheduled to start at a Big 4 in the beginning of 2012. If we go into another recession, will this hurt my chances of starting? Did the recession of 2008 affect the start of any new hire? Did many people lose their chance?

I doubt that will have any impact on your offer. It doesn't look good for firms to renege on an offer that's already been extended and accepted. Plus you're starting beginning of 2012, that means you're the busy season starting class. I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt any firm can afford to lose people during busy season.

I thought I was paranoid.  Every question you asked on this site so far make you seem really paranoid, and fear to lose your offer.  Just relax and study for your CPA.  I get paranoid a lot as well.  If you get paranoid this often, you probably won't perform well once you start at your FT job.  You are fine.

Why don't you get some back up offers so that you can sleep with peace of mind? Go hustle and apply elsewhere. You may have missed the Big 4 recruiting season but maybe you can land some other job offers. There's no shame in that game.
