In practicing the written communications, I sometimes come across questions where I really don't know enough specific information to write a memo of sufficient length, or with enough accurate information. Is the best advice for this to supplement the information about a given topic with, basically, "fluff" type stuff that I know really isn't true, just to make the memo of appropriate length, structure, etc. ? I see some posts that emphasize grammar, spelling, structure, etc., and that say this is ok, that the relative accuracy of the content in the memo is not really graded.

(from another site i posted on)
I am now nervous about BEC WC!!!!1
so i know that i need to follow the basic format and put a few points in to get the full mark but what happens when you have no idea of the topic? I just did the Gleim practice exam and got 77% off the MCQ only. I had no idea what to write for the first two WC. the first one asked for me to talk about the fives ways options fluctuates and how does one price an option. HUH???? i thought the WC had general things to write about. eg. fraud, internal control and risk..... the second one i didnt attempt or the third but i believe i could have talked a little about it but not much since it asked for me to explain the key officers in a corporate governance of a compnay. again huh???? I can answer questions on corporate gorvernace but i have no idea about the key officers and what they do.
Can someone who was stumped on the WC and also passed please elaborate.
I planned on killing the MCQ on the exam with the WC being my insurance but without an insurance its looking a little rough..

Honestly, I wouldn't stress about the WC in BEC. Two of mine were not even BEC topics. I just focused on what was asked and tried to formulate a well constructed memo. I followed the format guidance Becker suggested, kept my answers clean and concise and didn't worry about accuracy. I did pass BEC last window, so I think this worked fine for me...
I think Jeff is the one that really stressed in the NINJA, they are grading on how well you write and formulate a response rather than how accurate your response is.
For example: if you had a WC that asked you to explain the differences between a review and a compilation engagement to a new staff member and you stated that you must be independent to do either one, you are clearly incorrect. I don't think they would ding you for being incorrect, but rather give you credit for mentioning independence...(I am studying AUD right now, so that is all I could think of...)
I would practice a few, focusing on structure over accuracy and you should be just fine! Remember that clear and concise responses are better than really wordy ones that don't really say much any day...

ok i am not sure that helped much but from my understanding, you should be more concerned with the structure (beginning, middle, ending), proper grammar and writing professionally.... one tip i read somewhere was to honestly state in the ending that you are not an expert and not familiar with the topic but will go and research the issue and you will follow up with more info..
