My deadline to take my first section (FAR) is 10/26.  I haven’t paid the exam fee and haven’t been studying as I should. I will “lose” the $15 registration fee if I don’t sit for the exam, which I don’t mind.

However, I don’t know how exactly to proceed.

Option 1: Study like hell for the next three weeks and sit for the exam on 10/26.

Option 2: Postpone the exam into Nov. and give myself an extra 2-3 weeks.

Right now I’m leaning with option 2 that way I can really study and pace myself. However, I can see that option 1 has some benefits.  If I really study profusely, then much of the material would be fresh in my mind and can ultimately be beneficial although somewhat counter-intuitive in that one shouldn’t cram for exams in that manner.

The initial plan was to sit for FAR in early Oct and for AUD in mid to late Nov but I think that might not be the case anymore. At this point, I think I’d rather just concentrate on FAR and revamp my plans. I’m now thinking to sit for AUD in early Jan, Reg in late Feb, and BEC in April.

So when should I take FAR?

Unless your really smart, taking FAR at the end of this month is suicide since
you will need a solid 6 weeks easy to study for it. There is a lot of material
(9 chpts. worth) and it is certainly not easy. Your best bet is to probably take
it in Nov. allowing you to prepare properly for it. Best of luck!

How do you know if you're really smart? In any event, yea I think I'm just going to play it safe.

Actually thought you were going to tell me something like "one of the best ways to know if one is ready is to sit for the exam is to do practice exams and if your getting A's or high B's, then that's a strong indication that your ready." I think I'll try that. Dont worry my questions aren't in the CPA exam, then again I havent taken it so who knows.

I'm using Yaeger (which implicitly means I'm using Wiley since they use Wiley's material). At first I was just going to use Wiley cos like others say I'm a cheap bastard or as I like to say "good with money."  I then saw that the FAR book weighed more than I did so I figured some instruction would be good.

I'm having some technical issues with Wlley's Test Bank CD. I'll figure it out sooner or later.
