Hi everyone. I recently graduated from Syracuse
University (December 2011) with my BS in CPA Accounting.
I am not pursuing a Masters Degree to hit the 150 hours.
Since my university would not allow me to take any more
courses there as a non degree student I'm now at home
taking 4 more courses to reach the 150. Overall I will
be using 5 different universities for this lol. (One
university I transferred from, another I took a few
summer classes to graduate a semester early, I took
classes at another university in high school for credit
towards my BS Accounting degree, and the last university
right now. Do you think the fact that I am sending
transcripts from 5 different universities will take NASBA
longer to process my application by a lot more or no?

Currently the NY Board breaks down the 150 hours into:

33 semester hours in accounting with at least one course
in each of the following areas:
financial accounting and reporting
cost or managerial accounting
taxation
auditing and attestation services

36 semester hours in general business electives and
The curriculum must also include, either as stand alone
courses or integrated into other courses, the study of
business or accounting communications, ethics and
professional responsibility, and accounting research

I know about all of these requirements and after
finishing up these 4 courses this semester at the school
near my home I will have the 150 hours completed as well
as these above requirements.

I recently (friday) emailed and spoke with people from
CPA EXAM / NASBA as well as my state board and state
coordinator and they were barely of any help at all, not
being able to answer most of my questions. I was
wondering if someone could point out besides the timing
issues due to 5 transcripts if there is a further
breakdown of the 33 accounting credit hours or if those
from the ny state and becker website are correct as I
presume them to be.

Thanks so much

I do recall the timing for NASBA to validate educational requirements was extremely long.  And I had an MBA with 150 hours and a completed Form 2 by the school.  If you're piecemealing a BS and additional courses to hit the 150 hours, I could imagine the time required is massive.

And I also found the NASBA coordinator and customer service to be of little help. Good luck.
