Is anybody know that how work experience is verified outside U.S.? do the state board call the previous employer directly and verify the experience or they do any other kind of verification method ??

Most states have a form that the employer fills out, signs, and sends in independent of your license application.  Most states require that the verifying CPA include his/her license number; I suspect that the state boards confirm that that person holds an active license.  I don't know if the boards call to verify experience.  I don't believe this works any differently for experience outside the US.

Thanks dcggrrrl. but if this is the case then people can easily play with dummy work experience. i read somewhere in the previous month post that what if a friend of someone is CPA and he would just signoff this work experience letter. well i think there might be adequete amount of verification done by the state board.

I would hope that CPAs respect the ethical guidelines of the profession as well as their own professional responsibility.  My dad's a CPA, and I know if I asked him to sign my experience verification, I'd get a big fat NO.

Does VA have a work experience requirement?  I looked on some sites it said NO and others said YES.
