Hi guys,

I know this will happen later and may not offer much hope to people who like me, are currently unemployed, do you think IFRS will help employment of CPAs the same way SOX did? I've already graduated and am still looking for a job and studying for the CPA but I think I will have to work somewhere other than public accounting for a while because it seems like firms are not really hiring. Well with all the talk on these forums about whether it is even worth pursuing the CPA exams, think about the jobs IFRS will create-even more than SOX did. Do you guys agree?

I am trying to take advantage of IFRS, but I am a little bit skeptical. IFRS implementation means that accounting can be outsourced just like IT.

There will be some opportunity, but not as much as SOX.

If the government wants to help, it can amend the requirement for publicly held companies to rotate partners every 5 years to requiring public companies to rotate their firm every 7 years or something like that. THAT would boost public accountability, and employment of CPAs.

The problem is that everyone is just a little too comfortable...
