ok, so I'm studying hard for REG and taking it first week in July.  You get three hours for the exam and I assume it's the three testllets (90 questions) and then the two simulations.  I did not finish my FAR exam and did not quite finish BEC - I had one of those BEC exams floating around in May with more calculations than FAR!  I came close, though.

I'm not a fast test taker, so I'm really worried about being successful in REG due to time contraints.  All the tax stuff is quantitative and the test format is similar to FAR, but now I'll only have three hours instead of four.

Is it difficult to finish this exam within the time allowed?  As bad as FAR for time?

its a challenge to finish REG in time, but if you keep an closed eye on the time management, its doable. btw, its not exactly same as FAR. REG has 24 question per testlet, 72 MCQ's in total and 2 sims.

I haven't taken the FAR yet, so I can't speak much about how the time compares with FAR. However, there are 24 mcqs in 3 testlets, so 72 mcqs in total. But a very close eye on each exam testlet. I didn't run out of time. I had 4 seconds left when I completed and submitted the exam. I gave myself exactly 30 minutes each for the mcqs testlet, and then gave myself 45 minutes each for the simulations testlet. I was very strict on this time limits and was able to manage the exam. I haven't received my score yet, so I guess I shouldn't be talking whether this is a good technique or not...LoL

thanks guys :)

I didn't realize it was 24 questions per testlet instead of 30, so that will help.  I'll just have to be try and stick to 30 minutes per testlet as you suggested leaving me time for the two simulations.  Thanks for the help, definitely gives me a better idea what to expect :)

Do keep in mind that 24 mcq's per testlet has its pros and cons. It can mean that you now have more time to spend per question. Not sure how the exams graded, but it may mean that each question is now worth more.
