Hi everybody,

I gave my Fare on 7th aug (worst performance) and
already passed aud. Now i am not sure of which exam to
take next. I am using Becker 2009 materials.

I am a little confused. I can spend 5 hours of study
time everyday.

How long does it take to prepare for each subject?

If i take Bec in first week of oct will i able give reg
by the end of nov? I heard there are changes in reg
every year so if i take in jan 2010 do i have to need
new materials.

I am from india so new to US taxes.

Please advise on what best can i do?

Appreciate your early response

Roshini,

It's a bit tough to answer your question as everyone's situation is different.

If I would have been you, I would go for BEC first as after FAR, you want little over whelming material to study plus it has no sims.... And, some topics you would have read about in FAR.

REG is tax laws... It took me 20-25 days to be comfortable with the material and correlate with U.S. tax laws. It needs some time and practice more than that required in BEC.

IMO, you can go for BEC in Oct 1st week ( I gave 5 weeks effectively to BEC) and then REG in Jan. You would be required to update your 2009 REG materials with 2010 changes which would be testable. here is the link:

http://www.becker.com/accounting/cpaexamreview/students/2009 _Regulation_Tax_Law_Update.pdf

All the best :) Do let know in case of any further queries.

Thanks for your opinion divya.

Really i was worried about the changes in Reg and what
if i had to purchase new set of material if i give the
exam in jan 2010.

Do you think i can as well be better prepared with 2009
material with the updates ?

Roshini,

Changes to the law and standards are testable 6 months after the effective date.

That's the reason your 2009 book had a big update in July - that was the month when the 2009 rules became testable.  You should be good with that material through the end of May 2010.
