I just took AUD and am waiting for my scores but I had loads of time and
feel really good about it (knock on wood). I've passed FAR which I
thought was much harder. That leaves me with BEC and REG, which I
figured would be my easiest exams. I teach Tax and have my MS in Tax,
so I'm pretty comfy there, and I took loads of B-Law as an undergrad and
for my MBA, and I still remember most of contracts, property, torts. As
far as BEC - I taught one term of Managerial and am ok but need a
refresher. Finance I'm terrible at memorization so if there are a lot of
metrics, I will definitely need help. I have my undergrad in theoretical
economics so I'm very comfy there. I also did IT financial systems
consulting for 10 years with PwC so IT doesn't worry me.
I used Becker for FAR and Roger for AUD. I liked both, Becker's software
was great and I did tons of MCQs. Roger, I loved his lectures and his
book, thought the Wiley book stunk and used the Wiley MCQs only once
or twice but I heavily studied Roger's MCQs and Sims that he used in his
book.
Two issues - what's the cheapest way to study for REG if one feels pretty
comfy with the material in theory? Or should I bite the bullet and buy
Roger again? Second, for BEC, is Roger the way to go? I like his style and
found him pretty entertaining plus Becker seemed to drag on and on
whereas he focused on the bare minimum.
My second issue - I work part-time and have little kids, and am tempted
to just take REG with minimal studying, do Roger for BEC, and take the
two at the end of Nov so I can be done. Stupid or smart? I don't want to
fail and re-take but I really want my certification.
Thanks!
