Does anyone know what happens if the husband is required to relocate for work and the wife and child stays behind for six months until the end of the school year?

When the wife and child moves 6 months later can those travel and moving expenses be deducted?  Is there a time limit on how long they can remain at the old residence and still deduct moving expenses?

Thanks for responding. This question is in the Wiley Test Bank, but the
explanation only says the expenses are deductible. I now realize they
are deductible as an exception to the time test.

Thanks soooo much
