Is it allowed in the exam to use a pencil and paper to writ some journal entries to help my self  to arrive to the right answer and to help me do some calculations ??

yes you will get paper and pencil but anything on it wont be tested.

I think instead of tested, they mean graded.

You could have the right answer on the paper, but press the wrong answer on the computer and get the question wrong.

I think when I was done with the exams, they actually shredded my paper, so there was no chance that the graders would have even seen what I had written...

Yeah, they definitely shred those...or they should. They just give the paper to you so you have SOMETHING to write on. I accidently tried to walk out with mine after my last section (FAR). I started to pick it up along with my license. I'm surprised I wasn't attacked for that.
