I'm thinking about taking a live Becker FastPass class for FAR in August, and then a live Becker Saturday class for REG in September. Problem is, I won't be able to take the FAR exam at the end of August because I just recently applied for the CPA exam, and it's supposed to take 6-8 weeks for a first-time applicant.

Would it be a stupid move to take a FAR class, and then take a REG class without taking the FAR exam first? I would be studying FAR, then studying REG, then in October I can take one or both of those exams. Would this be a dumb thing to do?

I really want FAR and REG to be the 1st 2 exams I take, since they're supposedly the hardest. Since I start work at the end of Sept., the above is the only live class schedule that would work for me.

As long as you don't shortchange your study time on one for the other, I don't see a problem with this plan.

I agree with Zeratul, as long as you are devoting sufficient amounts of your time to both sections, it can be done. After all, back in the day, all four parts had to be taken at once, and most people I know managed to pass at least two or three on their first try back then!

You'll do fine, just keep studying. Different sections are harder for different people.  For me, I know AUD will definitely be the hardest, as I have no external audit experience (I have some internal) and it was a harder subject for me in undergrad.  FAR and REG have the largest breadth of material, so that's why they are generally regarded to be the hardest.  Plus it feels good to get the beasts out the way early!

I tend to think you are a masochist if you go that way, but it can be done.  I know I couldn't do it.  There is a lot of material to cover, but if you are not employed and can study 8 hours a day, then by all means go for it!

If you have paid for it and are going to do it all the best.
If you are asking for our opinion "don't do it".

I know a friend who took all four exams the same window as she was staying in Singapore and could only be in the US for 12 days. She passed three and came by the next window for REG.
