I personally felt horrible after taking my test. It was my first section. From my understanding the MCs are supposed to get harder assuming you do well. They never got harder for me. And I really felt discouraged while taking the test. The simulations....horrible as well. Honestly I felt like percentage wise, I may have gotten like 50% of the total points - or less. Only thing I did well on were the written communications.
I was 75% sure I was going to fail. I finished the test in 2 hours because I just wanted to get it over with...just sitting there staring at the screen looking at all these questions I didn't know the answers to...felt like I just wasted a bunch of money and time. Felt really bad the rest of the day.
Somehow, I got a 76. Lucked out there. It ain't great but its a passing score. And in the end, it's the same as a 99.
I'm writing this post not to give false hope, but to urge people not to get down on themselves while taking the test. They're supposed to be hard. But you don't need to get an "A", you just need to pass. You may feel overwhelmed from not knowing any of the answers and may want to just give up. Don't give up! Start every question anew as if it's problem #1. Even if you feel like you're gonna fail.....take it from me, you never know...so don't give up.

These are meaningful comments Crispy--thanks. I felt that way after each test, and so far passed 3 on the first attempt. Maybe the AICPA truly knows what they're doing and the exams really do identify those with strong basic knowledge of principles.

My first testlet was medium hard and I marked 18 (yes 18) questions for review, ultimately only changing 2 answers. The second testlet was so hard I almost quit the test and went to apply for a job as a bank teller! Third testlet was medium hard. Simulation 1 was so easy I almost jumped for joy but then remembered they would kick me out of the testing room. Second simulation I left one whole tab blank and moved on. I didn't have time to be as thorough on the communications but I managed to get 2 legible paragraphs for each. I am 100% certain I got both of the research questions correct. I left feeling like I did my best but I'm planning the re-take for April. I guessed on about 6 questions. We'll see!!

That's great advice crispy potatoes. I also felt uneasy when I left the test center on 1/9. When I got my 83 FAR score yesterday, I was both pleasantly surprised and relieved. You don't have to be perfect for this exam, you just have to score a 75. I will admit that I would have felt a little discouraged if I failed b/c I put in many, many hours studying for this exam. A lot of the material that I studied wasn't even on the exam. Some of the material that I scanned over was actually covered a lot. The exam does make you think, but you have room for error. It's okay if you guess at some because more than likely it may be right. Now it's on to AUD!
