Here is my situation:
- I am in Canada, and registered with state of Alaska to take CPA exams.
- I passed four CPA exams already.
- The reason I chose Alaska to register CPA was that I only had 120 credit hours (undergraduate, major in Accounting), when I registered with Alaska, and I was allowed to take exams.
- I don't have any auditing experience, and I don't expect I am able to get any auditing experience in the near future.
- I am working in an international private company based in Canada, in the field of taxation.
- I am also taking MBA, and I expect to complete the MBA in two terms.
- I will never be able to get CPA license from Alsaka as it is impossible for me to get three years public practice experience in Alsaka. (I need transfer my file to another state where I possibly get license in Canada without moving to USA)
I'm searching for a state with which I can get license with feasible requirement for me. The state I'm looking for is to allow 120 credit hours (master degree is coming), private company experience, signed by an active CPA but not requiring supervisor (my manager in Canada is a CA versus CPA). I did go to states' websites one by one, but, it's too hard for me to completely understand their policies.
Please provide help and information for me. Let me know which state is possible for me. I want to get a license. Welcome your discussion!!

I don't think that there is a state that will give you a license under these circumstances. Many states want diversified experience to include auditing. It seems that you may need to wait until you have your masters degree - you will have more options then (maybe Delaware or Florida).

Why not apply to a two-tier state (ie. certificate and license are issued spearately)?
You should consider Delaware which issues CPA certificates separate from licenses i.e. experience is not required.
Many CPAs work in business and industry even if they started in practice.

Thanks, lola_ma.
Does Florida allow me to get 150 credits after the CPA exams to get a license? I have completed the exams, and I don't want to retake them. For some states, 150 credits need to be get before sitting the first exam.

As I known so far, Delaware does not provide certificate any more. It becomes one-tier state. The another concern for me is I had 120 credits versus 150 credits before I sitting the first exam. Am I allowed to get 30 credits after the CPA exams?
