Hello everyone,

I recently passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam. I still need to complete the ethics course to get my CPA license in the state of Texas.

Until I get my license, can I use "CPA (designate)" title next to my name? I remember someone a while back who used to put that title next to their name because they had passed the exams but hadn't obtained the license at the time.

Can anyone tell me if that is acceptable? Any link to some authoritative literature regarding that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !!!

Hi Stealth.  Go to page 46.  I don't think Texas allows you to put the CPA title behind your name...I work at a Big 4, and although many have their license, their cards, emails signatures, etc. does not say CPA.

You are not a CPA until you are a CPA. How much more clear does this have to be? People need to stop jumping the gun and be patient. There is a list of requirements. Each requirement must be completed to attain licensure. Licensure is what you need to call yourself a CPA. If your license expires, you are unlicensed and not a CPA.
