After three months wait, I received approval from NJ Board of Accountancy. Finally, I can call myself-CPA!!! Feels really great.

3 months?!!!

I sent out my application on 5/16, it means I can't get it before 8/16.

May I ask a few questions?

1. When did you take Ethics course? after the application accepted? or after received license?

2. Who is supposed to sign on Statement of Experience? I had my previous company's HR signed them. but one of my friends told me I should have the CPAs signed them. But not all the comapnies I worked for have a CPA avaialble. I started to worry.

Thank you very much!!

Hi, rebesteves. I am not sure if you are a NJ candidate, but here is my story:

I sent my application on 02/28 and received approval at the end of May. I sat from another state and had to get evaluation from NASBA. Perhaps, this is what took state board too long to process. If you sat from NJ, I assume it will be much quicker as they will have your file completed.

For experience reuquirement, A licensed (in any state) and active CPA MUST certify your qualifying experience. Experience may come from public or non-public sector. I never worked in public accounting and my experience solely from a corporate tax department.

Ethics course: NJ require ethics course must be taken within six-months from the licensure date. So, you don't need to take the course before approval.

Congratulation on you CPA & Thank you so much for the info.

Yes - I am NJ and I am now in trouble! The instruction of the application was simply speaking to "employer". I was luck to find HRs who were willing to do this beacuse all 4 companies I worked for were sold to others. People I knew were gone!

Thanks again!!

Rebesteves,

I am in same situation as you are. My previous non- public job's manager has left the company. I am not sure how I am going to fullfill this experience requirements.
