Hi All,

Congratulations to all of you who have passed all exams and moved to this section of the forum. I have passed all 4 exams in May 08 from CA board and started working in Dec 08. I am planning to apply for license but confused about where to apply. I mean I have passed exams from CA board but I live in Texas now. Should I transfer my credits to TX? I dont like the process in TX, they ask for moral certificate and its a bit complicated than CA. Is it easier to transfer license than credits? I am not planning to live in TX forever but not sure about moving back to CA as well. And also, I work as Tax Associate, will my tax experience be considered for work experience requirement? I will be completing 1 year of experince in Dec 09. Should I start preparing for ethics course or should I wait untill I complete 1 year at work? any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I think it's always easier to license in the state you took the exam, and then transfer. I got the license recently from CA, after passing the exam 8 years ago. The key thing is the experience letter. I had one-year public accounting with a CA firm and they approved without question. I think with out of state experience, the process is more rigorous. Make sure you are getting experience under a licensed CPA whatever you do. Also, with the new pathway structure, it's easier to transfer if you have met the 150-hr education requirement. E.g., I could transfer my licensse immediately to Tenn, but without 150hrs, I would need 4 years experience!
