I passed by Uniform CPA examination from the Colorado state board in the Apr-May 2009 window.
I am based out of India and am an Indian citizen.
My educational qualifications as of present are, Masters in Commerce - Specialization in Financial accounting.
I have a 2 year of work experience in the Internal auditing department of KPMG, India.
I have gone through the rule book on Colorado state licensing given on the website. I had few questions as follows on the section 4.1.B:
1. A) I would want to know if this internal auditing experience will qualify for the licensing requirement as I am not an Indian CA (Chartered Accountant). Also in the rule book it had been mentioned that the job function should meet the definition set forth in the codification of the statements on Auditing Standards issued by the AICPA. As my experience is in a Big Four in India, what is the implication of this requirement on my work experience?
2) Also, section 4.1.B requires that out of the 1800 qualifying hrs, 80 hrs should be under auditee’s external independent auditor. Does this auditee have to be KPMG's (internal auditing department's) client or I can work independently under an external auditor (Indian CA) and meet the 80 hr requirement. This external auditor however will not be any way affiliated with KPMG's internal auditing department.
How can i meet the 80 Hr requirement as i have never worked under direct supervision of any of my auditee's external auditor.
I am jus wondering if the auditee of the external auditor will have to be KPMG's internal auditing department's client also.
Please help as i have written to NASBA and CO state board licensing authority but have never received a satisfactory reply.
