I passed the CPA exam late in 2009 and was issued a CPA certificate by the
State of Illinois. I have not yet registered with the Illinois department of
professional regulation, so I am certified but not licensed yet. I am looking
to get the ball rolling on licensure, because I want to start using the CPA
designation behind my name. My question is about which state to license
myself in. I am from Illinois, but I live and work in Iowa now. Is it ok to just
apply for licensure with the State of Illinois, or is it in my best interest to go
through the transfer process and have it transferred to Iowa instead? I am
not in public accounting. I work for a publicly traded company, and the
designation is not required for my job. I just don't want to waste time and
money trying to move the CPA to Iowa if it doesn't matter anyway. Thanks in
advance for any advice!
