Hi,
I recently passed the CPA exam in Massachusetts. Yay! I was glad to be done and was about to apply for the non-reporting CPA license, however I noticed that the requirement was as follows. If you have a graduate degree, no experience is required. However if you have an undergraduate degree and 150 credit hours, you need atleast 1 year of public accounting experience else, if you don't have one year public accounting experience, every 3 years that you have worked in non-public accounting will count as long as you worked under the direct supervision of a currently licensed CPA. Since I don't have a graduate degree, I had initially thought that I could apply and get licensed since I had an undergrad with 150 hours + 7 years work experience. I worked under the direct supervision of a CFO/Controller, however when I checked with them, they're not currently licensed i.e. they have not maintained their license by taking the CPE credits. In my current company, I have worked for 2 years and 1 month, however am not reporting to a CPA. Some of my work in reviewed by another person in the company who is currently licensed, however I do not directly report to him and also that would only get me 2 years 1 month and not the full 3 years. Does anyone know what my options are as I've heard that you need to fulfill the other requirements within 3 years of passing the exam. I'm glad I've passed the exam but now am confused what I should do to get licensed.
