I am planning to prepare for the CMA exam, but I am not
sure which format to opt for...I have cleared my cpa exams.
what are the steps required to start the process & how soon
i can appear for the exam?

Please check on IMA website. It provides the information that you need.
If you have not registered for the old format yet, you can only take the new format exam in May.
