Went for my first test today (Part II and passed). What really got me going today is their inappropriate treatment of candidates. Before you could enter the testing room, you would have to lift your shirt in front of some testing supervisor and turn around so he could see whether you (both men and women) carried anything under your clothes. This is done in front of your fellow test takers that are taking the exam or waiting to be next and all is videotaped. I asked the weasel at the front desk for their written policy that authorizes them to do so but she did not have it. It was a humiliating experience. Unless this practice is stopped, I would say screw the whole CIA certification. I am a test taker not a convicted felon.

This is not representative of the CIA certification.  This is the Pearson Vue test center that you want to with what sounds like a very bizarre and unnecessary security measure.

I have sat for and passed both the first and second parts of the CIA exam within the last two months and have had nothing but a positive experience.  I also tested at the same center 2 months prior to that for my GMAT.  They have asked me if I have anything in my pockets, asked me to put anything from my pockets in a locker, and given me the key to that locker.  Other than that, they took my picture and had me do a quick fingerprint scan.

I test in North Carolina at the Charlotte Pearson Vue center.  I am sorry for the experience that you had.  It is certainly completely ridiculous.  I would send an e-mail to one of the higherups at Pearson Vue letting them know that you don't appreciate what was done.  Do you have the option of any other nearby Pearson Vue centers?  You may not, my next closest was an hour further.  The current center that I test at is 20 minutes from my house.

Oh, and definitely put everything you said here in the survey you will get in your e-mail from Pearson Vue.  I have gotten it within 24 hours of testing each time.  Congratulations on passing the 2nd part of the exam though!  I am studying to take the third part of the exam next.

I will definitely fill out the survey and also write a letter to the IIA/Pearson.

Vicky, it sounds absolutely bizarre. My experience was similar to alcohen's. Center employees were very pleasant (I am in Chicago).

In your case, I would definitely contact the IIA. Next time refuse to go through such procedure and ask for the written statement from the supervisor. I would have this Center investigated (who knows what perverts work there).
